Jews And Gentiles Have The Same Father
The False Teaching:
Those whose father was Abraham had an inheritance in the Kingdom of God. This naturally excluded the Gentiles.
New Testament Response:
New Testament writers respond by pointing to Jesus' statements regarding father Abraham:
John 8:38-39
I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father." They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham."
New Testament writers show that the father of those in the Church is not on earth but in heaven:
Matthew 23:9
Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
